Imagine loving something/someone since you were 11 yrs old and then 20 years later you FINALLY get the chance to meet them. Well that’s what happened to me on July 23rd, 2011 and it was one of the best days of my life. I never, ever, ever thought I would see New Kids On The Block in concert much less meet them!! It did happen and hopefully I won’t bore you too much with my blog about it, so here it goes!
The months leading up to one of the best days of my life seemed to take forever. July 23rd finally came and boy was I nervous!!! I was seeing NKOTBSB in concert and meeting my boys NKOTB for the first time EVER!! I was so nervous I couldn’t eat and literally thought I may have a panic attack numerous times that day. We went to the venue very early to meet up with Amy & Abby at the buses hoping to catch a glimpse of the guys before we met them. It looked like it was going to rain and we didn’t want to get soaked before the meet and greet so we stayed a few minutes and then walked back to our car. No spotting of the guys unfortunately. We finally met up with some girls in our group and stood in line to get into the pre-party. At this point I’m still freaking nervous but not as bad as I was earlier in the day. We finally get into the doors for the pre-party and get our laminates. We sit down at a table and hang out and discuss how everything’s hopefully gonna go. Tony from ILAA told us some rules before the meet and greet about how everything was going to flow. Then we hear a very familiar voice coming out of speakers in the room it was the loveable Donnie Wahlberg rambling on about stuff. I don’t remember all of it, but one thing he said did stand out. He told us to come back there and hug the shit out of them!! Heck yeah I’ll do that is what I was thinking. Finally our group was called we lined up and waited anxiously for our turn to meet the guys. We had a pre-planned group of 8 so we mostly knew who everyone was standing beside. I’m a Donnie girl but love Jordan so since Donnie was already taken I was standing next to Jordan. No complaints from me. We wait for the group before us to finish and when they did we hear the guys clapping for us. I was screaming on the inside but didn’t show it on the outside, at least I don’t think I did, lol. It’s true what people say once you see them for some reason you calm down and aren’t nervous anymore. Finally after 20+ years the moment had finally come I was actually going to meet and hug NKOTB!!! First I hug Danny which was very nice 
. They told us to go to every guy first and hug them but I didn’t I stopped at Jordan. I walked up to Jordan and he said what does your shirt say Feel like I’m living a what? I said it says Feel Like I’m Living A Teenage Dream and he smiled and said something to the effect of awww hahaha. I hugged him and then stood to wait for our pic. Donnie must have seen my heart that I put on my shirt that said DDUB Soldier because he kind of reached his arm around me and smiled but then the girls that were standing beside him came from hugging the other guys so that moment was over, lol. We got our 2 pics taken then I finished hugging the rest of the guys. First was my man Donnie ahhh. We hugged and he said I love ya and what did I say back….freaking nothing besides nice to meet you and hi! Now I’m like STUPID why didn’t you say I love you back, ugh. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do that someday. Then I went to hug Joey he’s so sweet and of course gorgeous. Last I hugged Jon omg girls he gives the best hugs no lie! He really hugs ya tight it was amazing. Then sadly we had to walk out of the m&g area to give others the chance to meet the guys, sadness. After the meet and greet I was totally freaking out ahahaha. Acting like a fool and shaking.
We picked up our gift bags and sat back down to wait on everyone to meet the guys. During the Ultimate VIPs meet and greet Donnie took over the mic again being his usual self, lol. Then the meet and greets were over and Donnie said we’re gonna come out from behind the curtain so y’all can take pics or something like that. Of course everyone ran over there I just stayed in my seat it was too crazy. Then it was all over except for the concert which was the best!!! Our seats were in Section L right at the main stage or balls whatever you wish to call it. We were in Row 6 so we were pretty darn close. I didn’t have the chance to go to anymore shows on this tour but I swear we were so loud and I really thought the guys were feeling it. Might just be me but that’s the feeling I got. I have never screamed that loud or much at a concert in my life. My throat is still hurting and it was 3 days ago. After the show we were hoping for a Waffle House party but wasn’t really sure if it was gonna happen. We headed back to the hotel and was waiting for any news about a party. We were about to get some food when we got news that there was a good possibility of a Waffle House. We turned around and went back to the hotel so we could go the bathroom and all that stuff before we found out where it might be. I was in such a hurry that idiot me fell up the stairs at the hotel it was quite hilarious if I say so myself, lol. Unfortunately there was no Waffle House party, but I found out later that Donnie had taken his son to Waffle House because he hadn’t been able to this whole tour. That’s the sweetest thing ever and now I totally understand why there wasn’t a party. Got to respect the man for wanting to spend time with his kid.
All of my excitement was over but I was so pumped up from everything that happened that day I may have slept 3 hrs max that night. The meet and greets may only last a few seconds but the memories last a lifetime. The guys are some of the sweetest people I’ve met and seem to really appreciate all the fans. I’m so thankful that they still enjoy spending time with us and entertaining us after all these years. I can’t wait until the next NKOTB adventure because I know it will be a blast! Hopefully I’ll get to meet more Blockheads along the way. I guess that’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed my blog and didn’t fall asleep, lol. Thanks for reading
